How to Stimulate New Hair Growth(Especially If You’re Experiencing Postpartum or Stress-Related Hair Loss)

Hair loss can be one of those things that sneaks up on you — suddenly your ponytail feels thinner, or your shower drain is fuller than usual. I know this feeling all too well — I recently had a baby and have been going through postpartum hair loss myself. It’s a completely normal part of the process, but that doesn’t make it feel any less frustrating.
The good news? You can stimulate new hair growth and support your scalp in the process — without harsh chemicals or gimmicky fixes. Here’s what’s actually been helping me and what I recommend for my guests in the salon:
🌱 1. Start with the Scalp
Healthy hair starts at the root — literally. If your scalp is dry, inflamed, or blocked with buildup, new hair growth can slow down or stall completely.
That’s why I use and love the Surface Awaken Scalp System. It’s a plant-based, professional-grade line that nourishes both the scalp and hair follicles. Here's how to use it:
Awaken Shampoo – Deep-cleansing yet gentle; removes buildup and stimulates circulation with peppermint and cayenne.
Awaken Conditioner – Soothes and strengthens fragile hair with babassu oil and protein.
Awaken Scalp Elixir – A daily leave-in spray that wakes up sluggish follicles and supports regrowth.
💆♀️ 2. Stimulate with Massage
Scalp massage isn’t just relaxing — it actually helps increase blood flow to your hair follicles, delivering nutrients and oxygen that encourage new growth.
I recommend:
Massaging your scalp with your fingertips while shampooing.
Using a scalp massager when applying the Awaken Elixir.
Making it a daily habit — just 2 minutes a day can make a difference.
💨 3. Be Gentle and Smart with Styling
Avoid anything that causes tension or breakage. That includes:
Tight ponytails or buns
Excessive heat styling
Brushing wet hair aggressively
When you do style, choose products that nourish while they hold. I use:
Surface Awaken Mousse – Lightweight volume with scalp and follicle support.
Awaken Finishing Spray – Long-lasting hold that’s safe for fragile or thinning hair.
🌸 4. Be Patient — and Take Progress Pics
Hair growth takes time. Most people see noticeable results within 60–90 days of consistent use. I recommend snapping a “before” photo and then again at 4, 8, and 12 weeks. You’ll likely see baby hairs coming in — especially around your hairline.
✨ My Personal Reminder to You:
If you’re dealing with postpartum hair loss, stress shedding, or hormonal hair changes, you’re not alone. I’ve been in your shoes, and I want to remind you:
💗 It’s temporary.
💗 You’re doing great.
💗 Your hair will grow back — with a little love and the right routine.
